Historical Significance & Context

Issued shortly after Kim Sang-heon returned from six agonizing years of captivity and interrogation in Shenyang (Qing capital). King Injo elevated him to the highest executive rank in the realm to honor his uncompromising moral rectitude and steadfast loyalty during the Manchu Invasions.
